The Dungkarcholing Women’s Group Hopes to Expand Their Vegetable Market

A group of five inspiring women in Dewathang, Samdrup Jongkhar, has been leading by example.

In 2020, when Bhutan went into lockdown, the Dungkhar Choling Women’s Group responded by supplying over 4,000 kilograms of fruits, vegetables, and cereals to front-line workers and their community.

Today, they’re looking to expand into markets beyond Samdrup Jongkhar, and we’re proud to support them. We’ve teamed up with the Samdrup Jongkhar Initiative (SJI) to supply water storage tanks, green nets, and other farming tools. They are now looking for new farm machinery to mechanize their farming. They hope their 20-acre organic farm will play a part in ensuring food security and self-sufficiency in the future.
